Tom wanted to go hiking, although the sky looked
grey. He packed his bag in
order to be ready as
soon as his friend Anna called.
Anna wasn’t sure whether they should go or not because of the weather. Despite the rain, they
decided to try. They wore boots and jackets instead of their usual clothes.
Due to
the heavy rain, the trail was wet and muddy. They could either walk slowly and be safe, or go fast and risk
falling. They chose to go slow.
Once they reached the
top, the rain stopped. The view was beautiful! They took photos and ate lunch.
Since
they were tired, they sat down to rest. Unless
the weather got worse, they planned to stay longer.
In the end, they were happy they went, despite the rain at the
start. It was a fun day full of adventure.
One night, Mandy heard a noise outside. She got out of
bed, and looked out of the window. It was dark, but she could see a shadow near
the garden. Something was moving out there. She wasn’t sure whether it was an animal
or a person – perhaps it was neither.
Although her
heart was beating fast with fear, she decided to go downstairs and check. She
was the type of person who disliked adventures. She took a torch in order to see better and
opened the back door.
As soon as the wind hit her in the face, she started to think this hadn’t been a
good idea. The wind was strong because
of the storm earlier that night. Due to the wet grass, she
walked carefully, or was it because she was walking into the unknown? Her heart
wouldn't calm down. Why was she so afraid?
She could either
return inside and go back to bed, or
carry on with this game, which seemed more like something out of a Netflix
series. She chose to go on, rather
than wonder for the rest of her life what this thing in her garden had been.
Once she got closer, it
all became very clear – a kitten hiding under a bush – wet from the rain. Just
a cat, she thought. Anyway, the cat looked cold and scared. Despite her allergy to all
creatures with fur, Mandy picked it up and held it close. It seemed to be
grateful for the care Mandy was offering it.
She took the cat inside, dried it with a towel and gave
it some milk. She then decided she wanted to keep it, despite her allergy, and unless it didn’t belong to somebody
else. She checked for a collar, but didn’t find one.
Since
it was late, she made a small bed for the cat in a box. She smiled as the cat
purred and closed its eyes.
She knew she should try to find its owner in the
morning. She would put up a few signs and ask the neighbours, otherwise someone might
worry. In England, cats always seem to belong to somebody.
She felt proud for going outside instead
of staying in bed. Hardly a Netflix story, but at least she’d
been brave enough to go and find out.
In the past, whenever
she’d been with animals, she’d felt ill. It appeared now her allergy had
disappeared. Perhaps, she’d never had one….
