The story must include:
a photo
an armchair
(Give your story a title but don't spend too much time on it.)
Story first line: Feeling
slightly nervous, Dave walked up the steps and onto the plane.
Feeling slightly nervous, Dave walked up the steps and
onto the plane. It was his first time flying alone, and he was heading for Paris for an international
photography contest. His hands were trembling a little as he held
his camera bag close.
He had never left his
small town before, and the idea of meeting famous photographers both thrilled and terrified him.
During the flight, Dave went
over his photos again and again, doubting every shot. What if I'm not good
enough? he thought.
At the hotel, everything felt too grand, too polished. But, the next day, at the exhibition hall, something
changed. People stopped to look at his photo—a simple image of his grandfather sitting in an
armchair, gazing out of the window.
An old woman wiped
her eyes. 'This reminds me of my father,' she said in a whisper.
Later that evening, Dave's name was called. He had
won second place. The crowd clapped enthusiastically
as he nervously walked up to receive
his prize, his anxiety forgotten.
Back in his hotel room, he called his grandfather.
'I did it, Grandpa!'
Dave said, smiling.
'I always knew you would,'
came the proud reply. (194 words)
