How to make the short answers with verb "to be".

Write the short answers in affirmative or negative. You can use the contracted (I'm) form or the complete (I am) form of the verb.

IDEA: First, do the test with "yes" answers.

Example:
Are you Spanish?

Answer:
Yes, I am    .
(Check your answers.)

Then write the answers with "no" answers.
Example:
Are you Portuguese?

Answer:
No, I'm not    .
(Check your answers again.)
