Exercise on comparing past perfect and past simple.

Read the past simple sentence in brackets ( ). Read the following sentence and write the verb in past perfect.

Example:

(Mary caught a train at 7.30 in the morning. I went to see Mary at 7.45.) I went to see Mary at 7.45 but she had caught   a train at 7.30.

1) (My family started lunch. I arrived home from work.) When I arrived home from work, my family lunch.
